TWO MENDELSSOHN PART SONGS FROM SECHS LIEDER IM FREIEN ZU SI (152046R ) (SATB Secular )
Scott MacPhereson's edition of Mendelssohn?s "Im Walde" and "Jaglied" brings these pieces that were, in the composer's words, meant "to be sung in the open air" into the concert hall. Beautifully lyrical, "Im Walde" features a simplicity of means that perfectly highlights the text, while the quick and rhythmic "Jaglied" mimics the sound of galloping horses as it illustrates a hunting scene.
